How soon can I go back to my daily activities after LASIK Vision Correction Surgery?

Anything that has to do with the eye is often a very delicate issue. Nobody wishes to lose their sight or even experience blurry sights as it is often not a nice experience. Things you could easily do by yourself in time past including reading will now become a serious issue. This is why when an individual start to notice that his or her eyesight is not like it used to be, the individual is advised to go for a LASIK eye surgery. The procedure has proven to be an effective method of correcting some eye defects that reduces the clarity of vision. With little or no side effect, a lot of people have undergone the procedure and are open to enjoy better eyesight. What is even more interesting is the fact that they will be awake throughout the procedure, they can walk out of the theatre on their own and they can start using the eyes within a day after the procedure. However, the fact that they can start using the eyes shortly after the procedure does not mean they should instantly jump in front of their computers and start working for hours. This could bother the eyes and reduce the effects of the procedure on the eyes. Thus, you might be wondering what activities you should stay away from after leaving the LASIK vision centre and for how long.

The first 2 weeks

During the first 2 weeks you should avoid using any type of creams or lotions close to your eyes. You do not want a situation where they would mistakenly get into your eyes. In some cases, even fragrance of the lotion and cream getting into your eyes could cause an irritation.

For the first 4 weeks

For the first 4 weeks after your LASIK procedure, you should try as much as possible to avoid engaging in any physical actions. You do not want a situation where someone or something will mistakenly hit the eyes whose flaps are still healing from the cut during the operation. You also don’t want to expose the eyes to too much light or stress as they could reduce how quickly you would recover from the procedure.

4 weeks to 8 weeks

Until 8 weeks after the procedure avoid using the pool and related facilities such as the spa, the beach, swimming pools and hot tub. Try as much as possible not to expose your eyes to water especially in these facilities. You do not want a situation where water will enter beneath the flaps that were cut open during the procedure.
